Day 6…
Kellar is still sick and the cough medicine has about the effect of filling the syringe up with water, it has done absolutely nothing! I went ahead and had his antibiotic filled Thursday night, I was afraid his throat was hurting him because he wouldn’t eat and would cough and just cry and had started touching around his hear when he would get upset. I quickly became agitated on Friday when I called our pedis office only to find out they were closed and I’m still wondering why. I can totally understand closing for Thanksgiving but the day after, I looked on the calendar and Black Friday is NOT a holiday so please someone help me understand why a pediatricians office would be closed, that is 4 days that a child will have to go w/out seeing their dr if they are sick. The dr himself told me that croup is really bad right now, roto virus and vomiting is everywhere and RSV is something they are seeing a lot of, I mean it does makes perfect sense to know all of this is going around and it will be 4 days before any of your pts can be seen by you right! Yes yes yes I know that the ER is always open but I however really did not want to go and sit with all of the loveliness that would graze the doors of the ER the day after turkey day, I used to work in the ER and on holidays you get some strange individuals most of who were there to try and get a work excuse so they could have Black Friday off and save a measly buck or two! Speaking of Black Friday I think it should be done away with, there is no excuse whatsoever for some peoples behavior and when a life is lost because of all the ignorance I think it’s time to do something different! I did a little shopping yesterday in Canton ( thank you honey for keeping our sick lil fella ), I just love that place, I wish they had more cute boy clothes though! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I’m off to do as my lil sick fellas has told me “hold me hold me momma.”
What’s that saying…
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch? I was actually starting to get excited that we are almost through November and Kellar hadn’t gotten sick yet, well next year I may need to wait till the last day of November to let that thought creep into my head. Last night was a awful night for all of us, Kellar started sounding really hoarse and had a croupy sounding cough yesterday evening. I had to run to town with my mom to pick up some stuff for Thanksgiving so I left Kellar here with Joey and while we were out he started running a fever. I got home and we put him to bed and he ended up puking everywhere, I moved him into my bed and he was burning up, I was hesitant to give him tylenol b/c I didn’t want him to end up puking it all back up, I moved him and was going to change his clothes and he started coughing and puking again, as bad as it sounds I didn’t even change the sheets b/c I figured we were in for a night full of it so we moved around to a dry spot and threw a towel over the wet ones. I checked his temp and it was almost 103 and he would just whimper and whine anytime he moved then he started doing this jumping/jerking movements, scared me pretty bad. I got up and started getting on some clothes to take him to the ER, he settled down and only did it a time or two more, I’m not sure what it was but I do remember now that I have had time to settle down and calm my nerves that he has did this before when he’s ran a high fever and we took him in to the ER and they said it was just the fever and his body reacting to it. I took him to the dr today and his lungs sound good, thank God! They say that they are seeing a lot of croup, whooping cough and rsv here. I asked him about the jerking and he said that high fevers will make children have muscle spasms so hopefully that’s all it was. We are doing breathing treatments, orapred and donatussin and I pray that this clears up so we can go enjoy a weekend shopping in Canton!
Way to go Dad!
Joey has completed the police academy, passed his state exam and is now a police officer! The last 16 weeks Joey has been off at school and this has really turned Kellar into a daddies boy. The first month or so it’s like Kellar really didn’t comprehend how long Joey had been gone, he was excited to see him come home but throughout the week he carried on like usual, the last month or so things have changed, he’s now all about Joey! At night when we would come home he would walk in the house and hold his hands out saying “hold me daddy” and I would tell him that daddy is not here he’s at school but he’ll be home in a few days, now he’s all about daddy! Daddy daddy daddy is all I hear here lately, I mean seriously what about mommy? I’m glad that it’s over and he’s home and I know Joey can’t wait to get started. Kellar and I are very proud of you Joey, we Love You Very Very much and pray that God will keep you safe while you are out on the streets!
It’s official…
Kellar can now hold his spoon and eat like a big boy, way to go Bear! He’s been holding his eating utensils for awhile now but with the spoon he couldn’t grasp the concept if I turn it upside down my foods going to fall off all over my lap and after about 6 “bites” of nothing but spoon he would get frustrated and start using his hands and I’m not gonna lie after seeing the mess on his clothes and on the floor I actually preferred he just use his hands. A few days ago I really really really started working w/him not turning the spoon ( but keep in mind Kellar hates hates hates hand over hand touching ) after a few times of him pushing my hand away and turning his head I put the spoon back in his container of apple sauce, yes I know give him the runniest thing I could possibly find in my pantry to try and teach him to spoon feed with but I noticed him really trying and focusing on what he was doing, it was ten times better than usual. So today I fixed him a bowl of cereal ( what is it with me and food that is really going to challenge him ) and I started off feeding him myself, I know I know he’s got to learn and me feeding him isn’t getting the trick done but he soon decided he wanted to do it. I handed him the spoon and he did it. He got a spoonful and leaned forward and brought it right to his mouth, I got MeMes attention and we both were like “he’s doing it.” Kellar I am so proud of you, now hopefully I can cut back on my purchases of Spray n’ Wash!
See we do recycle…
Costumes! Kellar was a skunk again this year, I honestly couldn’t see spending the money I did on his skunk outfit to only wear one time so I was super duper excited when I realized he could still fit into it, so what if it was a little short your attention should’ve been on his adorable face anyhow. Friday was a busy day for us, we had a halloween party at MeMe’s, then we headed off trick-or-treating! We stopped by the churches down the street, went over to my grandparents and then we went to a carnival that my parents church and several others put together. This was great for the older kids but definately not for Kellars age and honestly there was way to many folks there for me, crowds are not my favorite thing that’s for sure. We left there and went to Courtneys to let Kellar and Syd play together then packed up and headed home. Somewhere along the way Kellar picked up a cough and runny nose, I’m thinking it may be a combination of the night air and this crazy weather we’re having, cold enough to wear sweaters one day and then back in shorts the next. Cooler weather come on already!
